Fun at the Carnival
Carnival is over and at the school of English World we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly together with the children who frequent our courses.
On the morning of Shrove Saturday, 10th February, seven children aged between 2 and 9 years of age, came to the school for a workshop run by our mother tongue teacher Emma, to create carnival hats, using all of their imagination, plus the glitter, stickers, coloured ribbons and pom-poms that we provided for the occasion. A family member accompanied the youngest children to give them a hand. At the end of the hour, they proudly sported their creations for the traditional group photograph
The following Tuesday, 13th February, was the last day of Carnival. We happily joined in with the procession organized by the Sangiovannese Carnival Association. Our small group of children wearing costumes inspired by the second world war, including soldiers and evacuees, was headed by Sara, English World’s secretary and our children’s teacher Eva, both of whom were dressed as English policewoman. It was a cold but sunny afternoon, and our small group walked between the carnival floats waving their British flags and representing the school and the culture it represents.
February has only just finished, but at the school we are already thinking about children’s events for March: don’t miss the two workshops that we are planning. On Saturday 17th March we have the workshop for Father’s day and on the 24th, the Easter workshop….be sure to save the dates! Information to follow!
