Welcoming Lara Mori
Our special events for children continue at English World during the month of November. On Wednesday 13th November, we invited the young Valdarnese gymnast Lara Mori, to the school to talk about her experience with some of our junior and secondary school children.
Lara Mori is a 21 year-old athlete from the association ginnica Giglio in Montevachi. In 2010 she made her international debut, achieving excellent results in her specialised area of artistic gymnastics. In the national team she achieved notable goals, representing Italy at the European and world championships.
The meeting began with a demonstration of rhythmic gymnastics carried out by two of our students, Matilde and Virginia; later, there was a quiz for the participants, who had to guess which English term referred to certain gymnastic movements, interpreted by Matilde and Virginia or gymnastic equipment used by Lara and shown to them in photos.
After the two sisters interviewed the athlete asking her about her private and professional life, such as the relationships that she has formed during her career, the emotions she faces during a competition etc.
At the end of the interview, Lara symbolically awarded all the children who took part with a gold winners medal hung around their neck; and finally the director Alison thanked Lara on behalf of the school of English World with a floral tribute and likewise gave Matilde and Virginia a small bouquet.
It was an emotional afternoon, in which it emerged how possible it is to achieve our dreams, working hard and making sacrifices, but with great satisfaction …. as Lara did, but also how this can be applied to learning English for example and every other goal that we have. It was a great pleasure meeting Lara. But our special events don’t end here! Check the page and keep up to date with our forthcoming events.
